DHS ISC certifies Alion’s CounterMeasures program as DoD-sponsored tool for risk assessment

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Interagency Security Committee (ISC) recently certified Alion Science and Technology’s CounterMeasures as the first Department of Defense-sponsored tool for risk assessment and analysis for federal facilities.

CounterMeasures software, designated for federal facilities not located at military bases, is a web-based program that analyzes a variety of potential threats, including physical security, operational security and information security. The program analyzes user inputs to examine potential threats and ways to lessen them.

CounterMeasures includes DHS ISC standards that ensure appropriate levels of protection against potential threats to security.

“The ISC’s certification of CounterMeasures directly addresses the need for an analytical approach to protecting the people and resources located at off-base federal locations,” Terri Spoonhour, senior vice president and manager of the distributed simulation group at Alion Science and Technology, said. “CounterMeasures application is designed to provide federal agencies with a holistic view of their risk posture, allowing them to address critical threats while still achieving cost-savings wherever possible.”

The CounterMeasures program is the newest addition to Alion’s range of analytical tools for government agencies, including programs for cybersecurity, insider threat protection and chemical industry security.

Alion Science and Technology develops software to strengthen national security and increase business output.
