Leidos awarded $202 mln subcontract to support Joint Improvised Threat Defeat Organization

Leidos, a Reston, Virginia-based technology company, was recently awarded a subcontract worth approximately $202 million to support the Joint Improvised Threat Defeat Organization (JIDO) for analytical operations, intelligence, and various training services under prime contractor CACI.

JIDO has developed its core capabilities to combat various improvised threats, such as improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The contract covers a two-year base period of performance, along with three one-year options. Leidos, which specializes in defense, intelligence, homeland security, civil, and health-related markets, said the subcontract expands the company’s footprint in the intelligence and threat reduction market.

“Our innovative operations, intelligence, and training services will arm JIDO with the capability to understand, disarm and defeat adversaries that employ improvised-threat weapons for nefarious purposes,” said Michael Leiter, president of Leidos Defense Group.

To support JIDO’s focused support/decisive effort missions, Leidos will be providing deployable analytics operations, intelligence and training services to enable the U.S. Department of Defense to counter improved threats with tactical responsiveness though anticipatory, rapid acquisition. Areas of focus will include preparing for and adapting to battlefield surprises in support of counterterrorism, counter-insurgency and other related mission areas including counter-IEDs.
