Mayorkas applauds Cyber Intelligence Integration Center

Deputy Secretary for the Department of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas released a statement on Thursday regarding the Cyber Intelligence Integration Center (CTIIC).

“The CTIIC will help DHS better understand various cyber threats and provide targeted intelligence community support to the Department’s National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (NCCIC), which will in turn enable us to share more actionable and timely information with the private sector,” Mayorkas said. “The NCCIC helps private sector and government entities better defend themselves against cyber threats by sharing information, encouraging the adoption of best practices, and responding to cyber incidents.

Mayorkas said that the partnership between the NCCIC and CTIIC is critical to protecting the nation’s cybersecurity infrastructure. Additionally, the program would provide an integrated all-source intelligence analysis related to foreign cyber threats affecting U.S. national interests. Furthermore, the CTIIC would performs its functions with applicable policy and legal framework that are consistent with privacy and civil liberties laws.

While no plans are official yet, it is expected to be located inside the Washington, D.C. metro area in an existing intelligence facility. Functions of the program would be subject to oversight from Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper.
