Champlain Border Patrol, NY agents arrest two Albanian nationals for illegal entry into US

U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Champlain Border Patrol Station, Swanton Sector, in New York, arrested two Albanian nationals on Nov. 13 who entered the country illegally after their visa requests were denied.

The Swanton Border Patrol Sector Tactical Communications Center advised agents assigned to the Champlain Border Patrol Station of suspicious activity along the U.S.-Canadian border near Champlain, New York. Agents responding to the call encountered two Albanian nationals, a 37-year-old male and 41-year-old female, walking along a rural road.

The agents determined that the two migrants were in the United States illegally and had entered from Canada. As the interview was taking place, a suspicious vehicle passed their location, which agents said was inconsistent with typical activity on an early Sunday morning. Information from the subsequent vehicle stop led to an investigation of the driver for a possible connection to the two migrants.

The two nationals were arrested and transported to the Champlain Border Patrol Station for further questioning. A records checked showed both individuals applied for visas, but were denied. Both migrants are now charged with entry without inspection and are pending deportation.

“The quick work and assessment of the situation by responding agents successfully thwarted this illegal border crossing attempt,” Norman Lague, patrol agent in charge of the Champlain Station, said.
