Raytheon demonstrates new electronic warfare program management tool

Raytheon Co. recently demonstrated its electronic warfare planning and management tool (EWPMT) with third party interoperability, called the Cyber and Electromagnetic Battle Management (CEMBM) Tool, for the U.S. Army.

The demonstration integrated CEMBM with the Marine Corps’ electronic warfare asset management tool, called Raptor-X, to build a foundation for information sharing across the joint battlespace. CEMBM extends both cyber and electromagnetic spectrum awareness capabilities into Raytheon’s Electronic Warfare Program Management Tool.

“We’ve achieved an interoperability breakthrough with CEMBM,” said Frank Pietryka, director of Raytheon’s Airborne Information Operations. “This type of community access to EWPMT-managed data means we can reach across services and produce a shared operating picture.”

CEMBM provides legacy systems with a common user interface, which reduces the need for end-user training and support. Raptor-X-managed sensor data can be used with EWPMT situational awareness and geospatial information management capabilities.

“CEMBM offers a near-real-time ability to respond to threats automatically or with a person on the loop,” said Pietryka. “This ability to choose how to respond accommodates complexity in planned execution for deliberate and dynamic targets during the mission.”

The platform’s open-architecture allows for rapid deployment of electronic warfare and cyber techniques to manage various types of events. Additionally it can employ streaming data to trigger response plans, execute jobs and manage data.

Waltham, Massachusetts-based Raytheon is a technology and innovation company specializing in defense, civil government and cybersecurity solutions.
