Border agents seize bundles of marijuana catapulted near Douglas Port of Entry

U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Douglas Station in Arizona recently seized two bundles of marijuana after being catapulted across the border from Mexico.

The incident occurred on Feb. 10 as agents patrolling an area just east of the Douglas Port of Entry observed several individuals on the southern side of the fence retreat as the officers approached. When agents arrived on the scene, they discovered a catapult system attached to the south side of the border fence. After a brief search, the officers discovered two bundles of marijuana.

The agents then called law enforcement personnel in Mexico to investigate. Border agents then dismantled the catapult and gave it to Mexican authorities. The marijuana was seized by border agents, which weighed approximately 47 pounds combined.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of the nation’s borders at and between the official ports of entry.
