Capito, Boozman tour CBP Advanced Training Center at Harpers Ferry

(R-AR) received a briefing from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) leadership last week, regarding a number of training programs during a tour of CBP’s Advanced Training Center at Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.

“I share the President’s commitment to securing our borders and highly trained law enforcement professionals are the key to accomplishing that goal,” Boozman, who chairs the Subcommittee on Homeland Security Appropriations, said. “The information gathered from the visit and briefing at the Harpers Ferry campus will be of vital importance as we work to draft an appropriations bill that meets the needs of the men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our borders.”

CBP’s Advanced Training Center at Harpers Ferry is one of six training sites managed by CBP’s Office of Training and Development and is designed to educate agency employees on the emerging issues of homeland security at the nation’s borders.

“It was inspiring to see the level of dedication and training the men and women of Customs and Border Protection go through to enforce our laws,” Capito said. “From classroom training to real life scenarios, they are working diligently to perform their jobs at the highest level. I’m especially proud this facility exists in West Virginia and of the hundreds who work there.”
