Neipert sworn in as new CBP Presidio port director

U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) new Presidio Port Director Michael Neipert was sworn into office during a formal change of command ceremony earlier this week at the Presidio Activity Center.

As the new port director, Neipert will oversee operations in combating the flow of illegal terrorist weapons and ensure immigration flows are carried out responsibly and legally. He is also responsible for all customs and agriculture inspections to ensure that goods entering the United States are in-line with the nation’s laws and regulations.

“It is an honor to lead the men and women who are hard at work every day at the Presidio port of entry supporting our vital homeland security mission,” Neipert said. “CBP and the Presidio Port of Entry plays a vital role in securing our nation while also maintaining the flow of legitimate trade and travel in this part of the state.”

Neipert began serving with CBP in 2007 at the Miami International Airport as a CBP agriculture specialist. In 2010, he was transitioned to a CBP officer where he worked in both immigration and baggage control. Two years later, Neipert participated in the Alliance to Combat Transnational Threats as an outbound enforcement officer in Nogales, Arizona.

Neipert was subsequently promoted to a supervisory CBP officer in 2013 at the Calexico Port of Entry, where he oversaw and assisted in the development of new officers. One year later, he was again promoted to chief CBP officer, where he oversaw day-to-day operations of the port.

Neipert replaces the outgoing John Deputy, who served as Presidio port director since 2014.
