FLIR announces new video management solution, three new cameras

FLIR Systems, Inc. released this week the latest version of its flagship video management solution, FLIR United VMS 8.0, along with three new high-performance security cameras.

The FLIR United VMS 8.0 is described as an enterprise-level video management system for managing video security operations. It can operate in both large and multi-location video operations and includes the company’s Latitude software, along with its FLIR Horizon and FLIR Meridian network video recorders.

“The latest FLIR United VMS offering provides a flexible, end-to-end security management solution that allows customers to easily scale to their security needs,” Andy Teich, FLIR president and CEO, said. “With the addition of several new high-performance security cameras, including the FLIR PT-Series HD system ideal for perimeter security, FLIR expands its broad security product offerings and further advances our presence in enterprise security.”

The first of the new cameras, the FLIR PT-Series HD, utilities dual-sensors to provides long-range perimeter intrusion detection in any type of lighting or environmental condition. It records in either 640×480 for thermal mode and a 1080p HD visible camera. It also comes with multiple high-performance lenses, including optical zoom up to 14x.

The FLIR Quasar 4K fixed box, multiple-resolution camera can record in either 4K and 1080p lowlight-nighttime modes. FLIR said the camera was ideal for high-traffic areas, such as large venues and transportation areas.

The FLIR Ariel 3MP is a 3MP fixed corner camera that provides both floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall visibility. It is ideal for medical facilities and prisons due to its impact-resistant and vandal-proof flush housing.

The cameras and VMS 8.0 will all be available during Q2 2017 through FLIR security dealers and integrators, the company said.
