Border patrol officers seize $3.7 million worth of liquid methamphetamine

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers stationed at the Hidalgo International Bridge in Texas recently intercepted a large shipment of liquid methamphetamine valued at approximately $3.7 million.

The incident occurred May 14 when a 20-year old female U.S. citizen approached the bridge from Mexico, driving a 2008 Chevy Silverado truck. After a brief round of questioning, the woman was referred for a more thorough, secondary inspection.

With the use of a non-intrusive imagine inspection, officers discovered a total of 188.89 pounds of alleged liquid methamphetamine concealed within the vehicles gas tank.

Officers subsequently seized the narcotics and the truck. The driver was arrested and turned over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations agents for processing. The driver will also be charged with narcotics trafficking.

“Our CBP officers continue to keep our borders secure,” Severiano Solis, port director of the Hidalgo, Pharr and Anzalduas Port of Entry, said. “This load of dangerous narcotics will not harm the lives of our citizens.”

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of the nation’s borders at and between the official ports of entry.
