Ridge to give keynote address on cybersecurity issues facing financial services industry

Former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge is scheduled to deliver a keynote address on cybersecurity issues to 700 financial services professionals at the 2017 American Bankers Association (ABA) Stonier Graduate School of Banking program in Philadelphia on June 3.

The program will take place June 1-8 and is held in partnership with the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Each year it trains various financial services professionals, many of whom hold vice president or senior vice president titles in their respective companies.

“With cybersecurity issues headlining recent global news, Gov. Ridge’s insight on this topic is especially timely,” Jim Edrington, executive vice president of ABA’s Professional Development Group, said. “Banks make the safety and security of customer data a top priority, and they’re consistently building upon the excellent work they’ve done in this area to anticipate future trends. Our industry’s future leaders have an opportunity here to learn from the best and gain a deeper understanding of how to navigate and protect against pervasive online threats.”

Ridge served as the first Secretary of Homeland Security in the wake of the September 11th terrorist attacks. After his time in government he founded Ridge Global, which provides solutions for various issues related to cybersecurity, risk-management, and international security.

Currently, Ridge serves on the board of the Institute for Defense Analysis and as co-chair of the Blue Ribbon Study Panel on Biodefense.
