House Homeland Security Committee Chairman U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) recently announced that U.S. Rep. Ron Estes (R-KS) would be the newest addition to the House Homeland Security Committee.
“Ron has a proven record of streamlining operations and increasing efficiency—and the committee will greatly benefit from the firsthand experience he brings,” McCaul said in a release. “I look forward to working alongside him to continue to pass laws that protect the homeland, secure our borders, defend against cyber attacks, and ensure the Department of Homeland Security runs efficiently.”
Estes was elected to Congress in April after a special election to fill former U.S. Rep. Mike Pompeo’s (R-KS) vacant seat after he left to become director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Estes also serves on the House Committee on Education and Workforce.
“Our federal government has a constitutional responsibility to provide for the safety and security of all Americans,” Estes said. “I’m honored to serve on this important committee and believe my public and private sector experience will allow me to make a meaningful contribution to ensure America’s continued protection from those who wish to do us harm.”
Prior to joining Congress, Estes worked in various consulting and management roles in the aerospace, energy and manufacturing industries. Most recently, Estes worked as the Kansas State Treasurer before deciding to run for Congress.
