TSA expands enhanced electronic screening procedures for Arnold Palmer Regional Airport, Pa.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently announced that it will be enhancing security measures for the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport (LBE) in Latrobe, Pennsylvania as part of a larger strategy by the agency to better secure airline passengers throughout the country.

Originally announced in late July, the new procedures will require travelers to place all electronics larger than a cell phone in bins for x-ray examination in standard security lines, similar to how laptop computers have been screened in recent years.

Due to a gradual increase in overall air travel, TSA recommended that all passengers arrive at their airports up to two hours in advance to ensure they have enough time to check in and pass through security.

“TSA must constantly enhance its security procedures to stay ahead of evolving threats,” TSA LBE Airport Federal Security Director Karen Keys-Turner said. “TSA is committed to raising the baseline for aviation security and we appreciate the cooperation of the traveling public in this endeavor.”

She stated that the separation of personal electronic items allowed for TSA officers to more closely focus on resolving alarms and stopping terror threats.

TSA indicated that the new procedures do not apply to those who are enrolled in the agency’s PreCheck program, which recently was extended to its 200th airport nationwide.
