U.S. Border Patrol announced Tuesday the appointment of Felix Chavez as the new Chief Patrol Agent of the Del Rio Sector, effective Oct. 29.
As Chief Patrol Agent, Chavez will manage nine stations and more than 1,500 agents and support staff. He will also oversee 210 miles of border and over 48,000 square miles of area.
“I am honored and look forward to continuing on the tradition of excellence and integrity that is embodied in the men and women of Del Rio Sector,” Chavez said. “Our mission is clear: we will serve together to secure our border and protect our communities.”
Chavez most recently served as the Deputy Chief Patrol Agent of Tucson Sector.
He began his career in 1985 at the Sierra Blanca Station in West Texas. He has since held multiple leadership positions in various sectors, including Patrol Agent in Charge of the Alamogordo Station and Assistant Chief Patrol Agent at the El Paso Sector.
