Motorola Solutions showcases future incident command concept, connected officer concept

Motorola Solutions recently unveiled the next generation of its future incident command concept for police and firefighters and its connected first responder concept, Responder Alert, at PMRExpo in Germany.

The updated incident command concept enables police and first responders to utilize an augmented reality headset to see what an incident commander sees while coordinating a tactical response. Additionally, drones can be deployed to provide holistic views of buildings and to generate holographic 3D models.

Responder Alert, meanwhile, integrates with equipment that police officers and first responders use in incident responses. It automates specific actions and notifications. When a police officer withdraws his service weapon, for example, Responder Alert can notify command and activate a body camera.

“Society is being transformed by technology, as well as public safety,” Mark Schmidl, the vice president and general manager Motorola Solutions, Europe, Middle East, and Africa, said. “We provide public safety organizations and commercial customers with next-generation TETRA and LTE broadband solutions along with expertise in their introduction to help them enhance workflows, boost efficiency and ultimately improve safety and outcomes.

Motorola Solutions also showcased advancements that enable any device using its mission-critical TETRA system to connect to any public safety broadband system. Its Convergence Suite of software, which can be used to develop customize public safety apps that improve situational management and frontline personnel, was also on display.

“Public safety organizations and enterprises need not only the technology and tools to meet their evolving needs but also a partner with specialized knowledge and experience to understand their challenges, find solutions and imagine new ways to get the job done,” Schmidl said.
