Israeli cybersecurity firms expanding to New York City

At Cybertech TLV, the largest convening of cybersecurity industries held in Tel Aviv, Israel, New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) President and CEO James Patchett announced three Israeli cybersecurity firms had committed to expanding to New York City.

Israel-based investment firm Jerusalem Venture Partners (JVP), malware analysis and detection startup Intezer, and artificial intelligence software developer D-ID are among the companies expanding to New York with the support of the NYCEDC Partnerships team.

“We are aggressively pursuing cybersecurity leaders from around the world to come to New York City and create good jobs,” Patchett said. “We have all of the competitive advantages to become a leader in cybersecurity – key anchor industries, talent, and a strong tech sector. We’re investing to make New York City the best place to grow a business or access a high-paying job in the industry.”

The effort is part of the New York Works plan, which is designed to create 100,000 jobs over the next ten years. It also supports a commitment by Mayor Bill de Blasio’s Cyber NYC initiative, which aims to grow the city’s cybersecurity industry.

“There is enormous growth potential for cybersecurity to become one of New York City’s flagship industries,” Council Member Peter Koo said. “These three companies have smartly caught the wave early and will help round out the important Cyber NYC initiative to catalyze innovation and create jobs in NYC. Thanks to the EDC for maximizing this opportunity to cultivate new and emerging business in NYC.”
