CBP arrests three subjects in New England within 24 hours

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Officers in New England, Boston Field Office arrested three subjects in a 24-hour period in two separate instances for narcotics possession and an active warrant.

At the Port of Houlton in Maine, CBP officers encountered two 42-year old male U.S. citizens who they referred for a secondary inspection that led to the discovery of 61.5 grams of heroin, 29.5 grams of crack cocaine, 29 grams of cocaine, trace amounts of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Law enforcement database checks revealed that both individuals had extensive criminal records.

Officers seized the contraband, and both subjects were arrested and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations for further investigation and prosecution.

At Boston Logan International Airport, CBP Officers working outbound operations intercepted a 27-year-old male U.S. citizen who had an active extraditable warrant and was wanted in New Hampshire for heroin possession. The subject was scheduled to depart to France and destined to Beirut, Lebanon.

An inspection of his baggage revealed six grams of marijuana and one gram of concentrated cannabis was discovered. The drugs were seized and the individual was taken into custody by CBP and turned over to the Massachusetts State Police.

“The hard work, dedication to the mission and vigilance of our CBP Officers resulted in these seizures and arrests across New England,” Director of Field Operations William Ferrara said. “Preventing the illegal importation of narcotics and apprehending those fleeing from the law are critical in protecting the public and keeping our communities safe.”
