DHS to provide small business owners with info on national security research, funding opportunity development

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) will engage small businesses focusing on research and development on a National Road Tour scheduled this week.

Sponsored by the Small Business Administration, stops are scheduled on Tuesday in Portland, on Wednesday in Seattle, and on Thursday in Fairbanks, Alaska. The fourth and final leg of the National Road Tour is scheduled in New England August 20-24.

“The SBIR Road Tour continues to be a great way to discuss opportunities for innovative small businesses to engage on technology needs for the Homeland Security mission,” William Bryan, DHS senior official performing the duties of the under secretary for science and technology, said. “By participating in this road tour and engaging with small businesses we facilitate the development of new technologies for the homeland security enterprise and support small business as a driving force for the U.S. economy.”

Small businesses will have opportunities to learn about funding opportunities available through the SBIR and the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. Program representatives will highlight how small businesses can leverage funding to meet national security needs.
