Rockwell Collins app to assist Japan Customs ahead of 2020 Olympic Games

Japan Customs, one of the first agencies in the world to announce a live Advanced Cargo Information (ACI) program, will use an application developed by Rockwell Collins for enhancing national security in preparation for the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo.

ACI provides electronic cargo information well ahead of goods arriving in a country and aids in the logistics processing. Japan Customs is expecting cargo shipments to increase during the Olympics dramatically.

The application will enable airlines to convert critical aviation messages so they are compatible with the ACI program. The app is available to airline customers around the world that carry cargo on flights to Japan.

“With this first-of-its-kind conversion app, we can help numerous airlines seamlessly and accurately convert their Type B cargo messages to the new, required Japan ACI format,” Michael DiGeorge, Rockwell Collins vice president of commercial aviation and network services, said. “Through our company’s messaging expertise, we were able to quickly implement this new application so airlines can ensure they are compliant.”

Rockwell Collins provides commercial and military customers with aviation and high-integrity solutions that help pilots safely and reliably navigate, keep warplanes informed in battle, deliver messages for airlines and airports and help passengers stay connected and comfortable.
