In a joint operation with the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations (CBP/AMO) intercepted a low profile vessel last month which led to more than 2 tons of cocaine seized.
The estimated street value of the cocaine seized is approximately $54,938,000. Its seizure was thanks to a P-3 Long Range Tracker, which the Joint Interagency Task Force South utilizes along a 42 million-square-mile area for anti-narcotics missions. The task force monitors through these systems and flags illicit trafficking for international and interagency disruption.
“We will take every opportunity to intercept transnational criminal organizations engaged in narcotics smuggling,” Allen Durham, director of the National Air Security Operations Center Corpus Christi, said. “This case demonstrates our commitment to working with our partners around the world to dismantle criminal enterprises.”
The vessel was cutting through the Eastern Pacific at the time of apprehension.
