Payan named Chief Patrol Agent for Buffalo Sector in New York

Eduardo Payan, a 31-year veteran of the U.S. Border Patrol, was recently appointed as Chief Patrol Agent for Border Patrol’s Buffalo Sector, the regional water border between ports of entry in New York and Pennsylvania.

Payan was appointed by U.S. Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost, following the promotion of current CPA Brian Hastings to Deputy Chief of Law Enforcement Operations at the U.S. Border Patrol headquarters.

Payan has served with the Border Patrol since 1987 when he graduated from the Academy and was assigned to San Diego Sector. In following years, he was sent to McAllen, Texas as a Supervisory Border Patrol Agent, to Washington, D.C. as the Associate Chief of the Enforcement and Information Technology Division, and then to Buffalo Sector as Division Chief of Operations in 2010. Since relocating to Buffalo in 2010, Payan was promoted to Deputy Chief Patrol Agent in 2012.

“My family and I have lived in the Buffalo, N.Y. community for more than eight years and I have been honored to serve them and safeguard our nation,” Payan said. “I will continue to partner with our community and law enforcement leaders in order to provide the best service to them.”
