DHS partners with United Airlines to fight human trafficking

The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Blue Campaign is sharing resources with United Airlines in a new partnership meant to counter human trafficking.

Under this joint endeavor, the Blue Campaign’s awareness materials will be co-branded with United Airlines and used to support that company’s employee training, which includes recognizing indicators of human trafficking and reporting of these cases. Education is the main focus of this partnership, and crew members could potentially benefit from the focus.

“The Department of Homeland Security’s Blue Campaign is excited about its partnership with United Airlines,” Trent Frazier, executive director of DHS Campaigns, said. “United has a robust human trafficking awareness training program and will be a leader in the airline industry’s efforts to combat human trafficking. Together, the Blue Campaign and United Airlines will share their resources and begin an endeavor to identify and alleviate the terrible toll of human trafficking.”

The partnership with United is the Blue Campaign’s latest cooperative effort, which includes state and local governments, as well as private industry.

“At United, safety is our top priority,” Steve Morrissey, United’s vice president of regulatory and policy, said. “Partnering with the Department of Homeland Security and combining our collective resources further underscores our commitment to safety and strengthens our determination to recognize and report instances of human trafficking.”
