Chavez tabbed for Laredo Sector CBP post

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials have selected Felix Chavez to serve as Chief Patrol Agent within the Laredo Sector.

Border Patrol Chief Carla L. Provost recently announced the selection, noting Chavez entered on duty with the Border Patrol in July 1985 as a member of Academy Class 184.

Chavez earned a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management from Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa. He has completed the Executive Institute at the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business, the CBP Command Leadership Academy and the National Defense University CAPSTONE program.

Chavez has held a variety of posts during his Border Patrol tenure, including Supervisory Border Patrol Agent and Field Operations Supervisor. In July 2002,
Chavez was promoted to Patrol Agent in Charge of the Alamogordo Station in El Paso Sector and in August 2007, to Assistant Chief Patrol Agent.

In May 2011, he went to Headquarters as Deputy Chief of the Operations Division, and from October 2013 to October 2017, Chavez served as Deputy Chief Patrol Agent of Tucson Sector. Most recently, he served as Chief Patrol Agent of Del Rio Sector.

“Laredo Sector has rich traditions and a community-law enforcement partnership unequal to anything I have seen in my nearly 34 years of service,” Chavez said. “I look forward to working to support you as we carry out our primary mission of securing our Nation’s borders and keeping our country safe.”
