DHS doing road tour for Small Business Innovation Research program

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program is embarking on a road tour to meet with small businesses.

The National SBIR 2019 Road Tour will begin with stops in Miami, Fla., and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

“We are continually seeking new opportunities to engage with innovators and the SBIR Road Tour provides DHS the chance to meet directly with innovative small businesses and discuss technology needs,” William Bryan, DHS senior official performing the duties of the undersecretary for science and technology, said. “I encourage small businesses to meet with us on this road tour and learn about opportunities to help deliver cutting-edge technology solutions to safeguard the American public.”

The tour, sponsored by the Small Business Administration, allows small businesses to learn more about how to do business with the federal government through the SBIR program. Multiple federal agencies, including DHS, will be on hand to answer questions.

The road tour will hit Donna E. Shalala Student Center at the University of Miami on Nov. 13 and the Compania de Comercio y Exportacion de Puerto Rico Centro de Emprendimiento in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Nov. 15.

The SBIR Program is a competitive contract awards program designed to increase the participation of innovative and creative U.S. small businesses in federal research and development initiatives.
