Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials said the agency’s Buffalo Field Office has experienced a 30 percent increase in narcotic seizures in 2019 over fiscal year 2018.

“The employees in the Buffalo Field Office work vigilantly throughout the year to protect our borders,” Richard Roberts, Acting Buffalo Field Office director, said. “Their dedication and commitment to the mission are steadfast as depicted by the enforcement statistics shown below. They work day in and day out to keep dangerous narcotics off the streets and ensure that wanted criminals are apprehended.”

Covering 16 ports of entry in New York, officials said the Buffalo Field Office executed 2,914 narcotic seizures during fiscal year 2019, over a 190 percent increase and over 750 arrests over a 30 percent increase from fiscal year 2018.

The fiscal year 2019 numbers, which represent the period from Oct. 1, 2018, through Sept. 30, 2019, revealed there were 2,914 narcotic seizures weighing 5,254 pounds; 112 firearms seizures; 775 arrests; and currency seizures totaling $242,327.
