FirstNet bringing enhancements to New Hampshire ahead of schedule

The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority) is bringing enhancements to the FirstNet network in New Hampshire ahead of schedule.

AT&T and Gov. Chris Sununu recently hosted an event to celebrate.

FirstNet is a nationwide, wireless communications platform for first responders and the public safety community built with AT&T in a public-private partnership with the FirstNet Authority.

More than $80 million has been invested in New Hampshire’s wireless and wired networks between 2016 and 2018. These investments include four new cell sites constructed using Band 14 spectrum, and access to a nationwide fleet of 76 deployable network assets.

In 2019, six additional cell sites were launched.

“New Hampshire deserves to have a public safety community with the best available communications,” New Hampshire Commissioner of Safety Robert Quinn said. “The New Hampshire Department of Safety enthusiastically supports FirstNet and the commitments AT&T has made throughout the state. We are confident that the FirstNet Authority and AT&T are greatly advancing public safety communications now and will continue to do so in the future.”

Other speakers at the event include Statewide Interoperability Coordinator John Stevens; Owen Smith, president AT&T New Hampshire; Edward Parkinson, FirstNet Authority executive director; and Derry Police Chief Edward Garone.
