Apple releases app and web site to help users protect their health during COVID-19 crisis

Apple released an app and web site to help guide Americans through a series of questions about their health and exposure to determine if they should seek care for COVID-19 coronavirus symptoms.

The technology company developed the app and web site in partnership with the White House Coronavirus Task Force and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The app and website allow people to answer questions on risk factors, recent exposure, and symptoms. The tool provides CDC recommendations on the next steps people should take. Specifically, it includes guidance on social distancing and self-isolating, advice on how to closely monitor symptoms, recommendations on testing, and information on when to contact a medical provider.

In addition, users will learn the most up-to-date information from the CDC on the virus, including best practices for washing hands, disinfecting surfaces, and monitoring symptoms.

The app is free and can be downloaded on the App Store or by visiting apple.com/covid19. In line with Apple’s dedication to user privacy, the COVID-19 app and website were constructed to keep all user data private and secure.

Also, U.S. residents may ask Siri, “How do I know if I have coronavirus?” to get guidance and resources from the CDC.
