Reps. Thornberry, Kelly applaud inclusion of Military Family Readiness Act in 2021 NDAA

Two representatives said the inclusion of much of their Military Family Readiness Act into the FY21 National Defense Authorization Act will bolster military family support.

Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-TX), ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee and Rep. Trent Kelly (R-MS), ranking member of the Subcommittee on Military Personnel lauded the incorporation of legislation into the Military Personnel Subcommittee’s portion Authorization Act.

“Family readiness is directly tied to overall military readiness,” Thornberry said. “Including these ideas in this year’s draft of the NDAA is important. As members of Congress, we have a long history of putting partisan differences aside to support our troops and their families. I want to thank Rep. Kelly and Rep. Jackie Speier, the Chairwoman of the Military Personnel Subcommittee, for their work to move these provisions forward.”

Kelly said the nation’s men and women in uniform have committed to protecting U.S. freedoms.

“As members of the House Armed Services Committee, it is our duty to make sure their needs are met at home and across the world,” he said. “The provisions included in the Military Personnel Subcommittee’s portion of the FY 2021 NDAA will deliver much-needed support to our military families. It has been an honor to work with Rep. Speier on this important legislation that will improve the quality of life for our Service Members and their families.”
