Trusted Traveler Programs Enrollment Centers reopening postponed

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials said the agency has postponed reopening Trusted Traveler Programs Enrollment Center sites until at least Aug. 10, 2020.

The action stems from the agency seeking to ensure the health and safety of program applicants, per the CBP, adding the decision was made in consultation with health and safety experts closely monitoring the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in several states.

The service enables more than 9 million pre-approved, low-risk travelers to bypass traditional CBP inspection lines and receive expedited processing when entering the United States, officials said, indicating the Enrollment on Arrival program will remain operational.

This program is the best option for conditionally approved Global Entry applicants to complete the enrollment process without pre-scheduling an interview at an enrollment center.

Program participants who scheduled interviews at enrollment centers in July and early August have been advised by CBP to reschedule appointments on or after Aug. 10 by logging into their Trusted Traveler Programs account and using the online scheduling tool.

Each applicant now has 485 days from the date CBP conditionally approved his or her application to complete the enrollment process, with officials adding the agency would extend Trusted Traveler Program benefits of members who apply for renewal before their current membership expires for up to 18 months.
