Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) personnel said the agency has issued an Infrastructure Dependency Primer (IDP) to aid state, local, tribal, and territorial planners in gaining infrastructure dependency insight.

The IDP resource supplements CISA’s recently published Infrastructure Resilience Planning Framework (IRPF) and seeks to help foster understanding regarding how infrastructure dependencies can impact community risk and resilience while determining ways to incorporate such knowledge current community planning.

Authorities indicated the IDP includes animations, interactive graphics, and guidance addressing user questions about infrastructure, dependencies, and resilience planning.

Additionally, the infrastructure serves as the foundation of communities via essential services while enabling functions such as health, safety, and economic growth.

The IDP details the specifics of infrastructure dependencies and emphasizes why it is important to possess insight, officials said, in addition to defining resilience, its relation to dependencies, and methods of planning.

The IDP’s three main sections offer basic instruction on important topics, per authorities, addressing essential community functions, the role of infrastructure stakeholders in planning processes and actions for improving resilience, case study examples, and available resources.

The IDP is publicly accessible and designed to be independently explored by users based on their interests and needs. More information regarding infrastructure resilience planning and assessment can be accessed at CISA.gov/idr-program.
