U.S. officials to lead Dubai arson investigation training program

U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) and National Fire Academy (NFA) officials are espousing the benefits of the U.S. Arson Investigation Training program in Dubai slated for launch in 2023.

As a means of preparing for the program’s formal launch, authorities noted U.S. Fire Administrator Lori Moore-Merrell recently traveled to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), to conduct introductory meetings with the General Directorate of Civil Defense in Dubai while also meeting with the Dubai Police Department.

During the Dubai Police Department session, Moore-Merrell met with senior personnel and toured the training facility site, according to the USFA.

USFA and the NFA will send qualified instructors to the UAE to train 50 new investigators.

“This partnership with the Dubai Police Department is an example of how our two governments can work together to better protect our communities,” Moore-Merrell said. “We appreciate the opportunity to train the Dubai Police Department’s arson investigators and share best practices to enhance their capabilities, scale their expertise and increase overall security against bad actors.”

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), via the USFA, continues to strengthen international relationships while identifying new opportunities to share ideas and information to protect the communities of firefighters across the nation and globally.
