Smiths Detection, a threat detection and security screening technologies company, recently launched a modular baggage and air cargo screening solution designed to help airports keep pace with change.
The solution, SDX 10080 SCT, uses advanced dual-energy computed tomography and an optional high-resolution dual-view line scanner. It was designed as a drop-in replacement and maintains full network compatibility and the same physical footprint as existing Smiths Detection hold baggage scanners.
“At Smiths Detection, innovation means working closely with customers to solve real operational challenges,” Jerome de Chassey, Smiths Detection president, said. “With our long experience in CT technology, we focus on creating systems that are smart, efficient and sustainable. This gives airports and cargo operators practical tools to improve security, reduce costs, and prepare for future demands in aviation.”
The technology is available in two configurations, the SDX 10080 SCT and the SDX 10080 SCT LS. The LS version combines computed tomography and a line scanner into a single system. The scanner provides 2D images that support highly reliable alarm resolution.
Smiths Detection provides technologies for aviation, defense, ports and borders, and urban security that detect the illegal passage of biological agents, contraband, explosives, narcotics, prohibited weapons, and toxic chemicals.
