Gen. Adrian Spain, Air Combat Command commander, and Jeremy Unterseher, ACC command chief, conducted a three-day tour of cybersecurity forces in Texas earlier this month.
“It is reassuring knowing that as cyber threats evolve our Airmen are at the forefront of safeguarding military assets and bolstering cybersecurity.” Spain said.
Spain and Unterseher visited the 67th Cyberspace Wing on Feb. 4 where they attended briefings from the 67th and 318th Cyberspace Operations Groups and heard Col. John W. Picklesimer highlight the full array of cyber combat power available to his wing.
On Feb. 5, Spain and Unterseher visited the 688th Cyberspace Wing headquarters. Spain was briefed on the 33rd Cyber Operations Squadron’s mission that plays a key role in monitoring and protecting both Air Force and Central Command networks.
Col. Joshua Evans, 688th deputy commander, walked Spain through 688th CW’s defensive cyber operations and critical intelligence across the expansive Air Force Information Network on Feb. 6. During the tour, Evans explained the Air Force Mission Assurance Center’s role in cybersecurity.
Both the 67th and 688th are headquartered at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. The units safeguard U.S. military operations and protect national interests in the digital landscape. Their cyber defense measures have been critical in the security of national defense operations.
