Ari Schwartz joins Potomac Institute as senior fellow

The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies announced last week that Ari Schwartz, Venable’s managing director of cybersecurity services, will join the institute as a senior fellow.

In his role at Venable, Schwartz directs the establishment of cybersecurity consulting services while assisting organizations with the development of risk management strategies which includes the implementation of cybersecurity framework.

Prior to his time at Venable, Schwartz was a member of the White House National Security Council, where he worked as a special assistant to the president and senior director for cybersecurity. From there, he coordinated all network defense and cybersecurity policy, including critical infrastructure protection federal network protection, supply-chain efforts, cybersecurity standards promotion and information sharing.

Additionally, Schwartz led the White House’s legislative and policy outreach businesses, trade groups, academics and civil liberties groups on cybersecurity and developed new policies and legislation, including developing executive orders regarding security on financial protection for consumers, cybersecurity information sharing and sanctions against individuals engaging in malicious cyber-enabled activities.

The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies is an independent, not-for-profit public policy research institute. It identifies and shepherds discussion on key science and technology issues facing society.
