CBP apprehends more than 100 in Rio Grande Valley

U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced on Wednesday that Rio Grande City Border Patrol agents had apprehended 102 undocumented immigrants.

The apprehension occurred when agents near Fronton, Texas, observed more than 80 individuals crossing the Rio Grande river in rafts. A few hours later, the agents observed another large group of individuals converge with the initial group.

Agents, with the assistance of the mobile response team, then apprehended 102 undocumented immigrants, including 73 men, 12 women and 17 juveniles.

Officials have issued a strong condemnation of crossing the border illegally, citing the dangerous practices of smugglers.
