CBP agents seize narcotics, arrest 10 individuals in two separate incidents

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents stationed at the Weldon Station Border Checkpoint seized more than $700,000 in narcotics and arrested 10 individuals during two separate incidents over the weekend.

The first incident began on Saturday when agents stopped a male U.S. citizen and his wife, a Mexican national, for a secondary examination. After a brief sweep with a canine team, agents were able discover approximately 16 pounds of alleged methamphetamines and approximately 35 pounds of cocaine in the vehicle’s rocker panels. The narcotics had an approximate street value of more than $440,000.

On Sunday, agents performing line watch duties tracked footprints found near Gila Bend and discovered seven men and one juvenile with nine bundles of marijuana valued at approximately $260,000. All of the subjects were reported to be Mexican nationals illegally in the United States.

CBP is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) charged with the management, control and protection of the nation’s borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is responsible for keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws designed to keep the nation safe.
