The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence scheduled last week an open hearing for March 30 regarding potential Russian intelligence activities and influence during the recent U.S. presidential election.
The hearing, titled Disinformation: A Primer in Russian Active Measures and Influence Campaigns, will be chaired by U.S. Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) and vice chaired by U.S. Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA).
The committee scheduled two panels for the hearing, one aimed at examining the history and characteristics of Russian operations campaigns, while the other will look at the roles and capabilities of Russian cyber operations in support of those activities.
The first panel’s witnesses include Eugene Rumer, director of the Russia and Eurasia Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace; Roy Godson, professor of government emeritus at Georgetown University; and Clint Watts, senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute Program on National Security.
The second panel’s witnesses include FireEye CEO Kevin Mandia and retired Gen. Keith Alexander, president and CEO of IronNet Cybersecurity.
Additional witnesses for both panels may be added in the coming days.
The committee previously held an open hearing in January on Russian operations into the U.S. elections.
