CBP’s Trusted Traveler Programs enroll five millionth member

U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Trusted Traveler Programs reached a new milestone on Wednesday by enrolling their five millionth member in the program.

Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, and Free and Secure Trade (FAST) provide expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers and truck drivers upon arrival in the United States. Global Entry by itself has more than three million members enrolled and accounts for an average of 10 percent of all international air arrivals.

“The success of our Trusted Traveler Programs is a testament to the focus we have had on advancing the international arrivals process over the last few years,” CBP Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske said. “These programs have helped reduce wait times at airports across the country, all while welcoming more travelers than ever and maintaining our primary mission—security.”

Trusted Travelers Programs membership increased from 3.5 million to more than five million since FY 2014. In that same time period, the Global Entry program grew more than 81 percent, from 1.6 million members to more than three million members.

Global Entry kiosks are located in 47 U.S. airports and 13 pre-clearance airports, processing members in approximately one minute. Travelers using Global Entry are also pre-eligible for participating in the Transportation Security Administration’s PreCheck program.
