SANS Institute sets agenda for 2016 San Antonio cybersecurity event

The SANS Institute on Wednesday set the agenda for its San Antonio 2016 InfoSec training event, taking place July 18-23.

Included on the agenda is an additional event discussing the recent attack on the Ukrainian power grid and lessons to be learned from the incident. The discussion on Ukraine will be led by Robert M. Lee, who was the first to reveal the malware uncovered in the network and later confirmed the cyber attack.

“The cyber attack on the Ukraine power grid was the first time we have ever seen a public case of an intentional cyber attack take foes electric infrastructure,” Lee said. “During my talk I will be detailing the entire investigation and the lessons learned that impacts a wide variety of communities from infrastructure to security operations and incident response.”

The event will feature hands-on immersion style security training courses for InfoSec professionals at every level. SANS will also offer its popular SEC301: Intro to Information Security course. Additional courses include SEC550: Active Defense, Offensive Countermeasures and Cyber Deception, and Lee’s FOR578: Cyber Threat Intelligence.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to test their skills while competing against other event participants during the NetWars Tournament.

The SANS Institute is the largest provider of cyber security training and certification to professionals at governments and commercial institutions worldwide.
