U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) opened a new Global Entry Enrollment Center on Friday at the Kansas City International Airport.
Global Entry, a trusted CBP traveler program, will allow for expedited clearance of pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. The Kansa City location becomes the second in Missouri, adding to a location at the Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.
“We are pleased to open a Global Entry Enrollment Center in Kansas City for those hoping to join the ranks of trusted traveler,” Area Port Director Joseph Lanzante said. “The new enrollment center provides a convenient, local center for people to complete their application process.”
Global entry members are able to bypass traditional CBP inspection lines and can use an automated kiosk to complete their admission to the United States. Travelers scan their passport and fingerprints, answer customs declaration questions using the kiosk’s touch interface, and proceed with a receipt to the exit. The process cuts the wait time down to approximately one minute.
The new Kansas City location is one of 47 U.S .airports and 13 pre-clearance locations with Global Entry. The program currently has 2.9 million members enrolled, with CBP receiving approximately 100,000 new applications each month. Global Entry members are also able to participate in the Transportation Safety’s Administration’s (TSA) Pre-Check program.
