FLIR Systems, Inc. recently announced that James J. Cannon will succeed Andy Teich as the company’s president and CEO, effective June 19, 2017.
“We are delighted to appoint a chief executive of Jim’s caliber,” FLIR’s Chairman of the Board Earl R. Lewis said. “Jim’s proven track record of achieving strong results in both business and the military make him uniquely well qualified to serve as FLIR’s next CEO. Our Board of Directors conducted a thorough search process, in which Jim distinguished himself as a true leader of leaders and demonstrated his experience and adaptability running business units worldwide.
Cannon will now lead the company’s portfolio of technology-based products and applications, which includes a variety of high-definition cameras, thermal cameras, and numerous security-related devices.
Prior to joining FLIR, Cannon spent 16 years in various capacities at Stanley Black and Decker, most recently serving as the company’s president of its North America and Emerging Markets. From there, he managed more than 5,000 employees and led the operations of various manufacturing plants and distribution centers.
Cannon also served for 10 years in the U.S. Army as an infantryman and armor officer, working in a wide variety of assignments including Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm in Iraq. He holds a degree in business administration and marketing from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.
