Motorola Solutions recently introduced new integrated software-based communication solutions for first responders, which combine the company’s ASTRO 25 land-mobile radio (LMR) systems and public safety broadband.
“We are introducing new solutions and future concepts that use ASTRO 25 for mission-critical voice communications and public safety broadband to share data for actionable intelligence,” Bruce Brda, executive vice president of Product & Solutions at Motorola Solutions, said. “Together, these technologies provide a powerful combination of solutions to help improve the safety of first responders and the people they protect.”
The solutions include automated LMR and broadband notifications. For example, if a police officer pulls his gun from its holster, the system can automatically notify command and turn on the officer’s body camera.
The company also introduced a mobile app for community engagements, through which residents can report crimes and public safety agencies can share alerts and other important information.
Motorola Solutions is showcasing these technologies at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) 2017, held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia this week.
The company will also showcase at the event several concept demos of possible future solutions. The concepts include a system that uses augmented-reality headsets and drones to provide surveillance so that SWAT team commanders can see events as they unfold, as well as a mass alert notification system for large-scale emergency response teams.
