Robert Garcia recently was appointed chief patrol agent for the U.S. Border Patrol Swanton Sector along the U.S.-Canada border.
Garcia replaces Chief John C. Pfeifer who retired.
“It is a privilege to serve as the chief of Swanton Sector and to work alongside the dedicated and hardworking men and women who protect the nation and keep it safe,” Garcia said. “I have called Swanton Sector home for more than three years and am honored to continue working with the multiple outstanding area law enforcement partners to keep our community safe.”
Garcia graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a degree in Criminal Justice, graduated from the Customs and Border Protection Leadership Institute and completed the University of Foreign Military and Cultural Studies Red Team Leaders course.
Garcia has served 26 years in the U.S. Border Patrol, most recently as the deputy chief patrol agent.
He has served in several U.S. Border Patrol sectors including the El Paso and Tucson.
He also served as assistant chief and associate chief at U.S. Border Patrol Headquarters in Washington, D.C., as an instructor at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Charleston, S.C. and as a member of the Border Patrol Tactical Unit.
