U.S. Border Patrol agents in Texas seized more than $350,000 in marijuana over the final weekend of 2019. The seizures were the result of four narcotic smuggling attempts.
Three seizures were made Dec. 28.
Agents in Weslaco responded to a call about a suspicious man near Pharr, Texas. The agents found six bundles of marijuana weighing more than 139 pounds and worth approximately $111,000.
Rio Grande City agents responded to a report of people running with bundles of narcotics from a pickup truck near Roma, Texas. Agents tried to stop the vehicle by activating their emergency lights. The driver continued traveling, then abruptly stopped and ran from the vehicle.
The driver was apprehended. Three bundles of marijuana weighing more than 159 pounds and worth approximately $127,000 were seized.
Fort Brown agents seized three bundles of marijuana weighing more than 130 pounds and worth approximately $104,000 near Brownsville, Texas.
One seizure was made Dec. 29.
Rio Grande City agents responded to a report of a group of men transporting narcotics to a truck located near Garciasville, Texas. The men removed bundles of narcotics from the truck and loaded them onto a raft on the river.
The agents seized the abandoned truck and a bundle of marijuana worth approximately $9,000.
