Law enforcement recently pressed charges against seven members of the Six Figure Boys, a Pittsburgh-based retail theft and firearms trafficking ring.
Group members were based in Pittsburgh’s Northview Heights neighborhood and included a pawn shop owner who allegedly bought and re-sold stolen items. Members committed heists at stores that had minimal security and did not actively pursue shoplifters. Osman Muya, the pawn shop owner, was referred to as the group’s boss.
The Pennsylvania attorney general’s office, local police departments and a presentment from the 51st Statewide Investigating Grand Jury investigated the group. The investigators used surveillance and undercover operations, and tracked digital communications.
Police recovered more than $120,000 in cash, at least eight firearms and stolen items in new packaging/condition. Items included lawnmowers, Apple iPhones, and other electronics.
“Stopping this elaborate illegal trafficking network was the product of great law enforcement collaboration steered by our Organized Crime Section,” Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry said. “We also commend the grand jurors who, for many months, listened to testimony about how these group members were at the top of the chain, planning and executing theft jobs, then moving the stolen products to fences.”
The Office of Attorney General’s Organized Crime Section will prosecute the case.
