Justice Department participating in multinational operation to snag cybercrime marketplaces

The Justice Department is participating in a multinational operation to disrupt and disable Cracked and Nulled’s, two online cybercrime marketplaces, infrastructure.

The operation is in conjunction with Operation Talent, a multinational law enforcement operation supported by Europol to investigate Cracked and Nulled, and is occurring in the United States, Australia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Romania and Spain.

The Cracked marketplace has been selling stolen login credentials, hacking tools, and servers for hosting malware and stolen data since March 2018, according to seizure warrants. It also has been carrying out cybercrime and fraud. The site has more than 4 million users, generated approximately $4 million in revenue, and listed more than 28 million posts.

The FBI and its foreign law enforcement partners identified and seized eight domain names and
a series of servers used to hosted Cracked.

The Nulled marketplace has been selling stolen login credentials, stolen identification documents, and hacking tools since 2016, according to the complaint affidavit, and have been carrying out cybercrime and fraud. The site generated approximately $1 million in yearly revenue, has more than five million users, and listed more than 43 million posts.

The FBI and its foreign law enforcement partners identified and seized the servers and domain used to operate Nulled.
