Aruba Networks, a Hewlett-Packard Enterprise company, announced on Tuesday that the U.S. Army will implement a secure gigabit Command Post wifi at Army, Army National Guard and Army Reserve Tactical Units worldwide.
The project seeks to reduce the time it takes to dismantle critical communications networks from hours to minutes, increasing force agility by expediting the mobility of troops when needed.
“Operational flexibility is critical to modern military practices,” Jon Green, senior director of security architecture for Aruba, said. “Aruba’s Command Post Wi-Fi solution gives armed forces the maneuverability they need, backed by the secure, robust network access they require, to accomplish their missions and achieve their objectives.”
Each Command Post will receive the equipment in kits. Each kit will include indoor and outdoor gigabit wifi access points, 7000 series cloud services controllers with RFProtect, policy enforcement firewall and advanced cryptography, and Airwave for network management. Each kit was purchased via the CHS4 contract.
The project is seen as an improvement from the previous wired networks that took hours to become operational at new sites.
