The Harris Corporation received $88 million on Friday for electronic jammers for U.S. Navy F/A-18 Hornet and Super Hornet aircraft.
The jammers protect Navy jets from sophisticated electronic threats, including modern integrated air defense systems. As part of the contact, awarded in July, the company will manufacture and deliver 48 on-board electronic warfare jamming systems for the Integrated Defensive Electronic Countermeasures (IDECM) program. Deliveries are expected by Dec. 2018.
“Naval aviators face a growing range of threats as their missions evolve and hostile actors gain access to increasingly advanced technology,” Ed Zoiss, president of Harris Electronic Systems, said. “Harris has helped keep aviators safe from emerging threats for more than 18 years, and we remain firmly committed to supporting their critical missions.”
The payment continues an 18-year relationship between Harris and the Navy’s IDECM program.
Harris Corporation operates in four segments, including communication systems, critical networks, electronic systems, and space and intelligence systems. The company supports customers in 125 countries and has approximately $8 billion in annual revenue and 22,000 employees worldwide.
