Battelle wins two major contracts from U.S. Army

Battelle, Inc.’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives Defense Group was awarded two contracts on Monday to provide vital mission support service for the U.S. Army.

“These important contract wins demonstrate that Battelle can win competitively bid contracts in our area of expertise—CBRNE defense and R&D operations,” Rick Mettke, manager for Battelle’s CBRNE Defense group’s mission support services, said. “We look forward to supporting our government clients as they tackle these strategically important tasks to protect the warfighter.”

The first contract, valued at $42 million over five years, is for the Natick Solider Research Development and Engineering Center, Warfighter Directorate. Work will include support tasks, including advanced technology development and human systems integration of personal protective equipment, body armor, exoskeletons, energy generation, integrated helmet systems, personal electronics and man-portable nano-unmanned aerial systems, infrared night vision sensing capability, and chemical and biological protection.

The second contract, valued at $150 million over five years, will provide on-site support to the U.S. Army’s Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (ECBC). Work provided will support the research and development directorate and includes a broad range of technical support in biosciences, physical sciences, chemical sciences, toxicology and obscurants.
