The Del Rio Border Patrol Sector recently honored one of its agents, Julian LiDrazzah, for an act of heroism.
LiDrazzah was presented with the Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery at a ceremony at the Del Rio Sector headquarters. South Texas Regional Director Ana Maria Garcia, from the office of U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), presented LiDrazzah with the award.
On Apri. 11, LiDrazzah responded to a call regarding a group of individuals attempting to cross the Rio Grande River near the Eagle Pass Station. A recent heavy rain storm produced a strong current in the river, making it more dangerous to cross than normal. LiDrazzah jumped into the water to rescue a mother and her child before the current swept them away. Once ashore, the agent immediately began administering life-saving emergency treatment. The mother and child escaped the incident without any serious harm.
“Agent LiDrazzah’s act of heroism is indicative of his profound character,” Matthew Hudak, acting chief patrol agent for the Del Rio Sector, said. “Placing the lives of strangers above his own not only demonstrates Agent LiDrazzah’s high regard for human life, but this selfless act also serves as an example of the true humanitarians proudly serving in the United States Border Patrol.”
The Law Enforcement Badge of Bravery was created by public law in 2008 to honor extraordinary acts of heroism in the line of duty.
